    An estate agent tries to get the highest price out of you the same way a market trader or a car salesman does.    None of these people are going to point out negatives you might only find out when you are too far in to quit.  Even if you don't quit, worst case is you negotiate tot he price you would have paid anyway.

    Sales has nothing to do with being a knowledgeable professional.
    Its not quite the same. The car salesman bought the car they are selling so need the highest price to make a decent margin, whereas an estate agent just needs a sale. 600k or 575k, not really too much difference to them with a 1% +vat fee

    Can be true, of course, but if they have any integrity at all they should be trying to achieve the highest price for their client - that is the thing they are being paid to do.
