Martin Lewis: The one thing everyone aged over 66 needs to know

TBH the system sucks as you have to both be retired not living together and looking after each other, which saves the system ££££'s if I was to moan about my health problems. I also feel screwed as I have now found out about a "Patient Summary" which if I had seen earlier could have saved us with vehicle costs. The whole thing is wrong when you have health issues and then get told by the AI you do not qualify something is seriously wrong with this country and being a Veteran means nothing. My advice is to find a job earn loads and defend your future not everyone else's. Serious rip off UK culture and the political system that supports it.

Good afternoon
My wife is at state pension age of 67 and claims pip I'm 49 we have tried to claim pension credit but because I'm not a pensioner she can't get it I don't work as I'm her full time carer due to her ill health,
Is there anything we can do to claim pension credit0 -
Tax credits also available for granparent looking after grandchild.
I have retired before I'm able to claim state pension. My pension prediction shows I now have gaps as am no longer contributing. DWP want over £900 per year to plug that gap.
I was not aware, until a friend told me, I can claim credits from my daughter-in-law for looking after my grandson on a weekly basis.( my daughter in law being in full time employment).
I have now claimed for past tax years and no longer have any gaps.
This was relatively easy as I downloaded form from DWP site, completed it and posted off to tax office. Got speedy reply.
I've yet to claim for this tax year but this should enable me to receive a full state pension once I reach 66.0
