Ebay DRS debt recovery help?

Hi all,
I don't sell often on Ebay and tried to sell an item for £2200. For 6 months I got no offers so I forgot about my listing and had sold it privately months later.
I received an email saying an offer had been accepted which I immediately tried to cancel but for some reason it would not let me cancel on Ebay. Something to do with my details were incomplete. I then received an email that payment had received. I emailed the buyer explaining that I wouldn't be able to send it to him and would refund his payment but again I was unable to refund on the website as my payment details were incomplete supposedly.
Fast forward a few days the buyer put in a complaint and got his refund back in the end but I was landed with a £200 payment to Ebay which I tried explaining to them that I couldn't cancel or refund on the website at the time.
My account with eBay has now been suspended and I've now received an email from DRS for £310. Ebay are telling me to pay the money owed to DRS than then appeal it with Ebay but I don't see why I should be paying when I tried to cancel the order immediately and I doubt my appeal will be successful
Can I ignore the DRS emails or will these escalate? Has anyone got experience of emails from DRS?

I'll add that I didn't actually receive the payment from the buyer. It was held by Ebay for the duration which might be why I couldn't refund.0

Never ignore!
Too late now but you should have rang them as they have a pretty good CS.
Call them now and settle for a comprise IMO
Btw, why were your details not matching and what did you do to resolve it?
Btw, you've reminded me I have a few items on Ebay for sale one I have thrown away, will remove the item right now.0 -
Pay nothing if you dont value the ebay account.
Debt recovery is toothless unless they have a court order, they do not have a court order and never will as they dont take anyone to court.
In this case their bark is worse that their bite, you will get a few letters/ emails then it will stop.2 -

Keep all the documentation, emails, screenshots, etc to be able to present them in court. You can stop debt collectors calling you by asking them to, you can't stop them from sending you a monthly letter. If you want to use Ebay again then try and get them to cancel it. Try contacting Ebay via Twitter and you might get through to a department who can help.

Assuming you owe eBay money and don’t wish to pay it and are happy to lose your account and any others associated with it, ignore the debt . EBay will appoint debt collectors, they will harass you but there is no known example of eBay going as far as court. If you do want to continue using eBay then any debt would need to be paid , and even then depending on the circumstances and time frame they might still ban you.
