Amex never mentioned section 75 (I have gone back to them since). They said their purchase protection is only for items bought in the last 90 days. I am going to call them again on Monday re section 75.  Thank you
A chargeback would be a much quicker process if you are within their time limit, as already mentioned.

S75 will only apply if you have a credit card with them, each ticket was over £100 and you personally purchased directly

Can't see a chargeback working as it is the OP that has cancelled. They only cover when company cancel & do not refund.
Could also argue the same on S75. But it is going to depend on the exact wording of their anytime refund.

But wouldn't the OP's basis* for a chargeback be that the ferry company wasn't adhering to their own T&Cs?  The OP is saying that he has a ticket which he is allowed to cancel for a full refund, but they won't refund.  It's not really a question about cancellation(?).

*Having said that, I'm not certain that a breach of contract by the trader is a valid basis for a chargeback claim anyway.  It might be helpful to have a reference somewhere listing what can and cannot be claimed for under chargeback?

How does it not fit into "Goods/Services not as described" - V53/M53 if it was Visa/Mastercard? They were sold as cancelable and have proven not to be

Only way would be refund not received. But for that you need something to say they have refunded date, amount & last 4 of card. Odds of OP getting that? Given they have already said no.

Not as described would need proof on both refundable & they are not going to refund. But I think it could get bounced back.

Remember chargebacks have to meet Amex criteria (not a expert on these) but We would not touch this case as it really is clutching at straws.
