Refund for Previously Disputed Defaulted Account

Hello, I have recently received a refund for a old account which is now closed and was previously marked as defaulted. This same account was one which I disputed with the DCA on how and why they entered a default marker on my file. Without boring you with details of the default I was wondering if the fact the original account owner has sent a refund would provide a basis for me to approach the DCA again and ask that the default be removed. It is my understanding that the original owner of the account didn’t enter a default they just closed the account and sold it to Cabot who then at some stage down the line entered a default. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Regards.

The default is a separate issue from any redress you received.
If you believe the default was incorrectly applied, you need to tackle that separately.1 -
The default should (by ICO) guidelines, be recorded after 3-6 missed contractual payments by the original lender before they sell it to a debt collector. Have they genuinely not defaulted you as that would be strange? The original lender should first default, then mark the debt as closed when they sell it and the debt collector should start recording it with a default backdated to the original date. The debt collector shouldn't be starting a default ticking from the day they bought it.
The default won't be removed because of a refund, the default is an accurate representation of your account0 -
Thank you both, this isnt the basis of why I am disputing the default but specifically regarding the default, shouldn’t the default itself be under scrutiny if prior to the default incorrect charges have been applied to the account?0

No. Fees and charges rarely make a material difference.0

As zx81 says, the charges would typically be a few pounds vs the size of the debt. It is extremely unlikely that you would be in a position where you didn't default if you hadn't had a charge0
