Top hat stuck in connector

If the top hat stays in the push fit  elbow or another push fit connector after i have removed the 15mm pipe can i reuse the connector even thought the top hat is still in place or does the connector need replacing also need replacing?

    Are you referring to the sleeve that inserts into the pipe? 
    What brand of fitting are you using?
    John guest and Hep20 need a sleeve in the pipe if it’s plastic…if it’s copper no sleeve required. 

    I have had sleeves still in JG fittings and used them just fine. I’d rather take it out and insert it separately though.
