Any provider that has exit fees can do one, no other reason for that other than for their own pockets.

Why should a company make a long term commitment to a customer but not the other way round? Certainty matters to both sides.

    Keep prices fair then.

Octopus don't have any exit fees on any of their tariffs.

They don't have any decent fixes either lol

Seriously though British gas although they show exit fees you can chose any of their other tariffs whenever you want for no exit fee,.Eon don't charge exit fees. The exception appears to be EDF but then their 2 year fixed deal could be a massive loss maker for them if the fees were too low and everyone bailed after a year.

So as you say put it shell and Octopus can dk one for not offering decent fix rates 🤣👍

Nobody is forced to agree to a fixed term contract, so people can choose to do so or not based on how 'fair' they view the prices to be, including any exit fees.

Tariff seems to have been replaced by the June 24 v4 now which is a couple of pence per kWh more expensive for gas and 7p more per kWh electric.

It looks as if the additional increases predicted by the likes of Cornwall Insight have now been factored in alongside much higher recent gas prices and will now be priced in going forward. I would hazard a guess that if you didn't fix now, you've missed the boat and the fixes going forward will now, unless you're very lucky, be at or above the proposed price cap in October. For me, the EDF fix being offered was around what the October price cap was being predicted at.
