Sennen Cove Car Park Ticket Scam

Options
Can anyone guide me?

We parked at Sennen Cove top car park and bought a whole day parking ticket, we displayed it correctly and only parked within the time framework allowed.

We now have a fine notice (£60/£100) because they say we failed to follow their terms and conditions. We typed in our number plate and have a ticket (retained) that proves we paid but because the ticket only has the last three letter of our number plate printed they say this breeches their terms and conditions

We haven't parked there before and assumed this is how their tickets printed. I am now assuming that this is either a scam to get money or their ticket machine wasn't working correctly, as we definitely typed the full number plate.

Any comments/advice? I am curious to know if this is standard practice with their tickets and what defense I could use since I have never had a parking fine before. I am quite indignant about this and would happily go to court rather than pay the fine as I have proved to them that I purchased a ticket and maintenance of machines should be standard practise the amount of money they get in that car park.

Thanks

    It is not a fine.

What is the name of the parking company?

What happened when you complained to the landowner? That is always Plan A.

If a landowner cancellation is not forthcoming, then send the appeal template in blue text you will find in the sticky Announcement for NEWBIES. Send it unaltered from The Keeper.

Check the NTK to see whether or not it is PoFA compliant and capable of holding the keeper liable.

  • Hey I had the same over half term. Went to the sennen cove top car park 3 times in that week. A week later got 2 letters with a penalty saying my car was parked illegally. As you might expect I had disposed of my tickets after a week had passed so appealed both using screenshots from my credit card statement I used to pay. One appeal was accepted but the other they came back with you only entered half your number plate which obviously I can't prove. So now lumbered with £60 fine. Direct quote below from the reply to appeal. Seem like it may be their issue if ticket machine not working and other people having it. Not sure what to do.

Interested to know which ticket machines you used. As I said I went there 3 times and got fined twice. The days I got fined for, I used the ticket machines to the right of the entrance. The day I didn't get fined I used the ones on the left of the entrance which has the covering around it with a big sign saying pay here.

I wonder if there have been more people with this issue? What should I do, pay £60 now or appeal to IAS and possibly pay £100?

"The appeal has been reviewed. The error is yours. In incorrectly entering the VRM as XXX instead of XXXX
XXX when making payment, no valid ticket was covering the vehicle remaining in the car park on private land.
Signage at the site informs 'You must display a valid pay & display ticket within the windscreen or be in
possession of a cashless payment session for the entire parking period.' 'You must enter your full and correct
vehicle registration number when you make payment.' "

Now none of their letters or signs said that did they?
You have invoices not fines, you did nothing illegal, you are being scammed by greedy Muppets, search for other threads about this honeytrap and read through the newbies thread.
The reduction is a bribe to get you to pay up and shut up, the IAS is a kangaroo court that will side with the PPC.

@lelong_mckean - please start a new thread of your own, as attempting to answer two cases (or even more if others follow and throw their case in here too) will undoubtedly lead to potentially expensive confusion.

You will receive full, exclusive, help on your own thread.

  • @lelong_mckean. I am very interested in which day you were there as we got tickets for the same thing the same week, which could back up my theory of defective machine and be useful in court. I ahve messaged you separately so as not to create confusion
