Hy All,
I definitely paid the parking charge whilst down at Canvey Island for an hour. Britpark. It was a hire car and I've been charged £55 by them for forwarding my details for the hire. Trouble is, I didnt have my reading glasses and may have one number wrong when I paid. Charges are now 55+100 for the pcn !!
Any advice? I've appealed and tried to explain but no answer yet. The easirent charge is most galling.....:-/

Search the forum for similar posts, there are loads of posters who have received "admin" charges from their hire companies. Also read the NEWBIE sticky first post and scroll down and look at the appeal letter written by @Edna_Basher. What happened when you complained to the landowner/retailer - Plan A in the NEWBIE.2

BritPark (Britannia Parking?).
Just appeal about a probable 'minor keying error' and they will cancel (if it's one digit wrong).
If you have another car and might have put the entire wrong reg in, tell them that reg and ask them to look for it. If it's a major keying error they have to settle for £20.
You only need to read the BPA Code of Practice to find the keying error section. It's self explanatory.
Once cancelled, you can then ask easirent to return the fee because the PCN was cancelled.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

How did you manage to enter the wrong reg/make a mistake? The payment machines should be linked to the ANPR cameras so that if an incorrect reg number is entered then it should throw up an error message.Well thats how it should be set up anyway , but the likes of Brit park are not interested in genuine car park management - all they want is there money .Have you complained to the landowner? if not then why - and please post the complaint up here first for analysisOnce you have done this then you should also issue a formal complaint to easyrent as charging you is not covered under their terms and conditions - which only mention fines and penalties https://www.easirent.com/rental-terms/ including a comedy section about Parking eye https://www.easirent.com/penalty-charge-notice/more to add to a complaint there - including parking charge notices are not penalties or fines, and parking companies are unregulated so even if they try and justify admin fees etc then doing so when an unregulated company has issued a charge could be a breach of the unfair terms in consumer contracts regulations

It was a hire car and I thought I'd entered the number 7 instead of a 9 without my reading glasses on. Anyway they've rejected my appeal! It already cost me £50 from the car hire company for the pleasure. Cant believe it, I wonder if I can ask for the reg numbers of all the cars within the time frame I'm accused of parking illegally for? I could then identify the number myself as they obviously cant be bothered.....0

Thanks Half-way btw for the info on easirent, I'll tackle this and see where it gets me too.0

You were not parked illegally. Of course they rejected it. Expected, surely?
Did you put this specifically in your appeal, as advised? If you have another car and might have put the entire wrong reg in, tell them that reg and ask them to look for it. If it's a major keying error they have to settle for £20.
You only need to read the BPA Code of Practice to find the keying error section. It's self explanatory.Complain to the BPA that Britannia have failed to identify the keying error and failed to cancel the PCN (if it was just a single digit error as you suspect) or offered to settle at £20 if you accidentally put in your other car which has the reg xxx xxxx.
So you wish to complain that they are in breach of the 'keying errors' section of the Code.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
