PIP Claim

  • Just to outline the timeframe, Thurs 21 July had message saying DWP had received my assessment from Capita (my assessment with Capita was on the Monday so it only took 3 days for them to send it on). Text message today (1 August) saying I've been awarded PIP. It was all very smooth for me and I know I'm probably in the minority! I don't know how long the award is for but as I have a profound hearing loss which I've had from birth, nothing is going to change!

congratulation's, I glad it went well for you.
When you get your letter you will know more.
With a bit of luck as your condition is not likely to improve it might be a 10 year award.
If your happy with the decision and the award, just remember never to call them ever again. Unless your condition gets worse.
They are the enemy, and you are at war.

Still not received any letter but I have had money go into my bank account today but as yet I don't know the details and how long my award is for.
  • Finally had the letter and the award is for 5 years. They had given me points in areas I wasn't expecting.

Hearing loss is serious and it's only correct that the Government step in to help you financially. With regular tests on your hearing (annually) it should be possible to plot out any change whether up or down. That will give you the evidence base to ask for your award to be renewed in five years.
