Hi knowledgeable people
Yesterday a colleague of our mortgage broker emailed to say that unfortunately our application to Nationwide has been declined (MIP approved with CCJ, declined later)
With now a hard search on our files I'm cautious about applying elsewhere and having the same result.
So background, I had a CCJ that has fallen off my record this week (I've checked checkmyfile and it's gone and I've generated a new report)
I have unsatisfied ancient debts that I pay £30 to (balance is around £3k) and the CCJ is also unsatisfied and I pay £50 to it (it's balance is £1700) so affordable and I will pay it off (paid off £7k in credit card debt this year already)
Also all of this old debt is with Halifax... Much to the brokers surprise after she got an instant approval for a MIP for Halifax after seeing we were declined by NW. I assume it's not ideal to go down this road with Halifax.
Obviously these debts aren't on my file but they are on my bank statements.
Do I:
declare the debt as debts not on my file as arrangements to pay?
Say nothing and hope they don't look too hard at my bank statements
Pay them off so they're settled via money borrowed from family
Go for an adverse mortgage but we only have a 11% deposit so not sure we would have enough for this. Our files are now 'very good' and 'good' respectively
I'm waiting to hear back from the broker, obviously this one isn't as quick to reply as our usual one and that makes me nervous 😅 any help would be massively appreciated.
