Octopus Fix or Variable?

Hey folks,

Looking for some advice. My current fix with Octopus for electricity ends soon, and theyve emailled me with some options.

Options they have given:

Your new Octopus Go prices
Peak unit rate: 35.11p / kWh
Off-peak unit rate: 7.50p / kWh
Standing charge: 49.38p / day
Estimated annual cost (electricity only): £1,272.22

Flexible Octopus prices
Peak unit rate: 29.84p / kWh
Off-peak unit rate: 21.34p / kWh
Standing charge: 49.47p / day
Estimated annual cost (electricity only): £1,283.83

Whats the current outlook? Fix a good idea or is there even a remote chance of prices going down soon.

Current Tarriff:

Your current Octopus Go prices
Peak unit rate: 16.03p / kWh
Off-peak unit rate: 5.00p / kWh
Standing charge: 25.00p / day
Estimated annual cost (electricity only): £611.69

Go is good if you have an EV(or get on it without one which is probably being clamped down on😜) especially if you use those cheap hours for high energy appliances👍

On Go is that electricity peak unit rate variable or does it remain the same for October price cap increases?

I assume you are having a EV as you are already on Octopus Go.

You can now only decide between fixing again with the new Octopus go tariff which is now more expensive or going onto the offered E7 SVT.

Fixing is a good idea at the Octopus Go rates, we expect another huge increase of 45% in October. A small increase in January, and with luck a small decrease in April.

Go is a 12-month fix but as with almost all Octopus tariffs you can switch at any time without penalty.
So long as you use a reasonable amount of your electricity during the off-peak period, Go is highly likely to work out cheaper.
