PIV blowing loft smell into the flat

Yes it is running. I asked the guy to set it to continuous because it was important to me to have airflow no matter what temperature.0

Hi, do you know what model PIV you have? I can only find units that take air from the loft space rather than directly from outside?Racky_Roo said:My PIV has a hose to a vent in the roof and it takes the air from outside to circulate round the house. Otherwise I'd also have a loft smell.
Where is your air coming from? Just the loft itself, via the air bricks? If so, it sounds like the air isn't fresh enough to be used for circulation and needs a hose to one of the air bricks to take in fresh air from outside0 -
There should always be a source of fresh air for a PIV to work correctly, either from ventilation in the eaves or if that's not possible you need to install a vent somewhere.Mr_Lyon said:

Is the tar paper/fabric under the roof, in the heat that could smell bad, The rafters are very clean with no sign of mould so thats good.
4 air bricks may be a little low if the eves are sealed and the is no cross breeze like your windows, Are the vents at the peaks above that room?0 -
It's a Vent-Axia Multi vent MVDC-MS/HMr_Lyon said:

Hello, did you ever get this sorted? I’ve just had one turned on and it smells of loft upstairs. Did it go away in time? No idea how these things work, it’s a nuair model.0

If ir's only just been installed, you may get a bit of a musty smell for a few days until the stale air in the loft has been drawn through and replaced with fresh air. As long as you have some ventilation in your loft, it should be fine.Jeffrey82 said:Hello, did you ever get this sorted? I’ve just had one turned on and it smells of loft upstairs.
