"Your item is ready to collect"

Who sends out these email notifications? The seller? eBay?

I bought 3 items from 1 seller, all at the same time & to be delivered to my local Argos.

For a little back story as it may make things make a little more sense - they were all to do with fitting car stereos & they were essentially 2 lots of kits split over 3 different listings for 2 different cars.

I get my first email through to go collect. I pick up 2 parcels & think well they're a bit streamline to include single din fascia kits nevermind the steering wheel control harness etc but oh well I'll have a look when I get home - which I ended up not doing as I'm not yet ready to fit the radios.

Next day I get another email to go pick up another parcel. Ahh that'll be for the fascia. Sure enough it was a bulkier package.

Today I get another email to go pick up another order.

Off i trot to go collect. The people at Argos are looking high & low and can't find a thing.

Turns out it was a duplicate email from my most recent one last week. Someone (seller / eBay?) had just waited a few days and sent the exact same thing again.

As I'd already had it split over 2 days even though I ordered everything at the exact same time, I just assumed it was a final bit of the order.

So had to explain to the staff there once I'd realised so now they'll be thinking - why's this guy not remember picking something up last week, when in actual fact I do remember, I just thought it was an additional part of the same order.

So who sends this out, eBay? Seller?

Actually it’s EBay via Argos, the seller has absolutely no input at all, they just send the items as they would to any other address.

When item is received by Argos they scan it (not necessarily as soon as it arrives, some Argos stores are very slow in releasing staff to do this ), eBay then acknowledge the item has arrived and send out the collection code to buyer.

Last week I had an INR case opened.  It was sent 2nd class signed for to a Costcutter Express.
The buyer claims she has never reveived a message to go and pick it up. But it was received and signed for 3 weeks ago.
Could this have happened if the shop didn't scan it ?
The parcel is not there now (so the buyer claims) but it's not been returned to me. I've entered the tracking number so I should be ok.

  • Thanks soolin.

topcat - I could be wrong, others will be in to correct me if so, but my personal experience as a buyer is if your tracker says delivered or signed for (by the buyer or even someone acting for them) then all else doesn't matter.

It doesn't matter if the postie forged it & chucked the parcel in the bin or took it home or whatever. You win as the seller with tracker.

    Why do I say this?

Because I bought an item on eBay within the past few years, the tracker said it had been delivered yet it certainly hadn't. Tried nearby houses (in middle of nowhere so not many to try) - no, no & no.
Went back to the seller, got in touch with eBay.

Outcome was tough luck. Tracker says delivered so it's delivered.

I know some will lie but I've nothing to gain here by lying & I can assure you it wasn't delivered. As for what happened, who knows other than I never received my parcel, the tracker said I had & I lost the claim.
