Try the smart tv features now before moving the tv. Unplug the aerial to confirm how you are watching the channels.

Firestick on offer from Amazon at the moment much fore flexible than Roku,you can sideloads lots of free apps onto it.1

you could mirror / cast your pad screen to the tv and thus control from apps on pad but watch on tv1
