why do I have 2 ebay names?

I've been on ebay for several years now, and I only recently noticed I have 2 different ebay user names. one is the one I set up myself, and the other one, which is abreviation of my name, is completely alien to me. what should I do?

Where are you seeing the 2nd one (the one which isn’t your user name) ?

As above really - when you log onto ebay can you log on using this 'other' name or...???

its random. sometimes i log in and it automatically logs me in as it should do. another time it will log me in under my 'other name'. having said that it doesnt seem to cause a problem. i not paying for loads of stuff i never seen.

2 days ago I accessed my eBay account on my mobile and today I had an email welcoming me to eBay (welcome Miguel angel) which is not my name.  I've made sure I used @googlemail.com for some years instead of @gmail.com to avoid log in issues with various companies. 

Through the email I can see that the other username (Miguel) identifies with gmail and my account is showing googlemail.  They've provided a username miguequisuyupan_0.  I'm guessing that the mobile access of my account has triggered some random new username.  My existing username is still showing on the account. 

I would be most grateful for some advice as to how I delete the new username.  I've been on eBay 20 odd years with 100% so I would like to keep this account status.  thank you

I've got a few ebay accounts and one of mine does this.
I log in using my full username but the name shown in 'my ebay'is an abbreviation of it.
Ie, full name SE2020, shown name SE2_8759
On my orders they randomly switch between the 2.

I think the reason is my user name is partially the same as the email address associated with the account so I think it might be a security thing?

On the account which has a name nothing like the email address used it's just the one name showing.

I have also noticed, with some sellers I buy from regularly,  some of them had user names that were email addresses or phone numbers. As far as I can tell these have all been changed to the abbreviation version. 
Maybe ebay thought those sellers were choosing names like that to encourage buyers to contact them directly and it is a way of blocking that out?

Thank you for your reply.  The username is nothing like mine.  For example my username is Janeygirl46 and the new username that appears in emails from ebay is miguequisuyupan_0

I received another email again today from ebay congratulating me for changing my username!  There is no unauthorised activity on my account and I've got 2 step verification.  I have changed my password just in case.  Should I contact ebay to advise them?  I cannot easily see how to do this either.  thank you for any advice.
