What is my Hargreaves Lansdown account number?

Options
I'm wanting to do a partial ISA transfer from HL to Vanguard.

Vanguard ask for the account number.

The only thing I can see in the HL portal is a "Client Number" it doesn't look like the ISA or my general account have their own account number.

Is the client number it?

I feel slightly stupid asking but if there is an account number either I'm going blind or it's pretty well hidden! :)

I just used used client number for a recent, quick, and successful in-specie transfer. Albeit not to Vanguard.

The only number I'm aware of is the client number - which seems fairly strange.  Other platforms I use or have used have a client number and another for each account.

It's not needed, but using client number is probably the easiest option.

Are you allowed to have 2 active S&S ISAS?

Yes but you can only pay into one S&S ISA in a tax year is my understanding.

So tax year 22/23 I've only paid new money into Vanguard.

You can only have one active S&S ISA (if active means you have subscribed to it in this tax year). However, you can transfer S&S ISAs from previous tax years. Though permitted, I am not aware of any ISA managers who allow separate accounts to be opened for different tax years. Certainly not HL, so there can be no confusion about which account is to be transferred.

I ask this as I have a fair chunk of Vanguard funds held in HL, and it would make sense to move it to Vanguard for the better fees. I do however have a little active fund stuff in HL which complicates things.

Provided you have sufficient previous year subscriptions to cover the value of the active funds (or cover the value of the Vanguard funds), such that you wouldn't have to split your current year money across two ISAs, then you could transfer to Vanguard, leaving the remaining funds at HL. You would just need to work out whether your transfer should include or exclude the current tax year.

If you do a partial transfer Vanguard will (apparently) only transfer Vanguard funds.

They don't even transfer cash with a partial transfer.

If you wanted you could open a new ISA ( and subscribe to it ) every tax year. So you could have ten S&S ISA's with ten different providers if you wanted. They would all be active, in the sense that the investments inside them would continue to grow ( or not), fees would be charged, and you could change investments around in them if you wanted.
