They're all pretty much the same - plug it in, stick an aerial lead in search for channels, watch tv.

But it'll be easier and possibly cheaper to get a smart tv. You don't need to use any smart features, so just go for the best tv for you in your budget - e.g. Sound or picture quality, depending on what you want.

I've just (well, 6 months ago) bought a TV for the spare room - it was a 50" 2020 model Sony XH something-or-other. I bought it from a local TV repair shop. The cost? £250. The shop also had dozens of older models for less than that. As Smart TVs get older they (like me) become less smart as the apps drop off. So, rather than get a supermarket no-name special with all the apps and features that you don't need it might be best, for a second/third TV to look at what you can pick up from a repair shop?

Thank you for your reply..didn't think about the repair shops..don't know of one in my area...also do you know if i bought another Smart TV does this need to be near my router/sky box as it won't be upstairs..so i just want to plug in and attach the old ariel tv with the long arms into back of one?  Should mention not very tech minded and get irritated quickly..LOL
  • This seems like a good deal from Richer Sounds

https://www.richersounds.com/panasonic-tx50jx800b.html  £249 if you join their "VIP" club (aka mailing list)

Needs a decent wi-fi signal from your router for Smart stuff and a terrestrial TV ariel for Freeview.  Personally I wouldn't buy a second TV unless I knew that both these were available where I'm putting the set.

What size do you want - I got an e-mail flyer from Richer Sounds the other day for Panasonic TV's 50" for £249 and 58" for £299. There was even an LG (although I cant remember the size) for £199

Smaller TVs can be as low as £150 or less. In the end it depend what you want and how much you want to pay.

Nowadays, being smart doesn't actually add to the cost as nearly all of them have some degee of smartness. Many , if not most, also  have wifi so you can use their smart functions without having to cable them to a router

There you go, lots of TV's of all shapes, sizes and prices - https://www.richersounds.com/catalog/category/view/id/1770

It looks as though the cheap Panasonic deal was only on afor a short time

use a cheap smart tv and just don't connect it to the internet - use the inbuilt freeview tuner.
