Thanks all, more solutions than Id hoped for . Shouldnt be a problem then doing it in just a short time . I wonder where the stock markets will be by the time my money comes through . Would like really to bang it mostly into my HSBC balanced since we are really cash heavy already , but at 74 Im thinking the way folk are talking about the economy , it may never recover in my lifetime so probably better to spread it around a bit more . Fill the grandkids isas for a start too .0

If you don't need the money yourself, things like ISAs for grandkids are a brilliant idea. Also pensions for them, or a deposit for a house. I don't know how many grandkids you have, but it's probably likely that it will take you a looooong time to move £270K into their ISAs, SIPPs and mortgages. Perhaps there's something more short term that you and your family would enjoy, with some of the money?1

First Direct it’s £49999.00, I was in the same position after selling my house.
They made 3 Chaps payments for me for free.1 -
Thanks, First Direct looks a good option too . Ive noticed theres a few banks have no limit on telephone transfers. They dont feel nearly as safe as doing it online , but Im not basing that on any hard facts . Anyone any thoughts on it ?0

If you have a payee already set up and test transfer done, then it would be fine. Likewise if the destination bank has confirmation of payee that can be verified. Personally, I'd set up the payee online rather than risk a mistake being made with sort code/account number/reference over the phone.ANGLICANPAT said:Thanks, First Direct looks a good option too . Of course we do not know what a ' lifetime' might be, but beyond a couple of flat years, I do not think ( hope) a prolonged recession is on the cards, although I could be wrong of course.
HSBC global strategy Balanced is at the same level as in February and at the same level as this time last year, so not exactly a disaster. OK it is has lost out to inflation but so has virtually everything else.
