Rights to keep something bought and paid for

Hi all,
My relative bought a silver coin from a website that sells commemorative gold and silver coins.  She noticed that the date was wrong on the coin that commemorated the Queen's 95th birthday.  She phoned and told them.  They asked her to send it back to them but she wants to keep it.  She has paid for it.  Do they have the right to ask for it back?
Thank you for your help.

Why did she phone and tell them, to get another replacement with the correct date?
They don't need to do anything for her if she won't return the incorrect item.

Thanks for your reply.  No, she doesn't want a replacement.  She just phoned them to tell them about the incorrect date.  She was worried that they asked for it back but she wants to keep it.

They probably thought she was complaining when she phoned, so were offering her a refund for a not as described item. If she wants to keep it instead then she can do.

Why did she phone them? They probably assumed she wants it exchanged hence asking for it to be returned.

If they have clearly sent the wrong goods then they would be entitled to recover it at their expense... if you order a paper pad from Amazon and they accidentally send you an iPad instead you cannot keep it. It'd be difficult to claim a coin with an erroneous date is a different product... there was another item in the press a while ago where they'd done this on some mugs etc and they were sold for a fraction of their price with market traders snapping them up to flog off as curiosities.
