Not so smart EON and British Gas won't have me!

What a joy contacting EON was with my three issues.

Issue 1. My home energy meter does not work.   Sorry tough was the reply, as it is out of warranty.

Issue 2.   At the moment I am getting roughly monthly meter usage reports on-line.  I need half hourly reports on my PC, as they are already collecting this information.   I was told it is not available to me.

Issue 3 My EON app on my smart phone has said for months that usage reports are coming soon except they never do.   No solution offered.

Plan B was to switch to British Gas on their variable tariff, as I had half hour reports 6 years ago from them, except I can only join them on a fixed tariff, so I am trapped with no working smart technology that benefits me.  As I am intending to buy a new boiler I will be in the dark about how the settings affect my energy consumption.

I have owned a smart meter for 6 years yet it has only worked for 18 months.  It worked for the first year until I changed supplier from British Gas.  It was then a dumb meter until November 2021 when the software was upgraded to V2  making it compatible with all suppliers.   Now it has died of old age while EON can't produce any meaningful reports on-line

Not happy! What can I do?

Download one of the third party apps or download your data from here https://data.n3rgy.com/consumer/home

    1. The IHD is out of warranty. No supplier will replace it free of charge, most will not even replace it at all. You have the option to buy a third party device or use a free third party app like Bright.

    2. That is correct, to my knowledge no supplier or third party does allow you to download the raw data to import into your PC.

    3. Is this not working in the app or was it just never integrated and they are just promising it will happen?

Your idea with BG has a few problems.

    1. Only EDF and Octopus accept new customers on their SVT and only if you call them. Seems Octopus is not accepting everybody who calls now, it is a hit and miss if you find an agent who will still do it.

    2. BG had huge problems with displaying the smart meter data on their website. Was not working for several month this year.

I'm pretty sure EDF allowed me to download smart meter data (not "raw data", but filtered) from their website.
    Octopus certainly do.
The button gives me a .csv file with half-hourly data.

Utility Warehouse is accepting new customers on their variable tariff. I called and have had a great experience switching from BG (electricity) and EDF (gas).

I have just signed up with https://data.n3rgy.com/consumer/home and downloaded my spreadsheet which contains headings but no data.  So frustrating!

Are you sure your meter is actually providing data?

I phoned EON yesterday and they said they can see the meter readings.  Also I can see smart readings on the PC but in 1 month intervals.
