Virgin net emails disappeared

Firstly apologies- I think this is a long shot as I can't fully explain what I mean as I am not tech savvy - and it might sound odd!
I use Virgin net email via Virgin broadband, have done so for years and I download it to my PC and keep the important emails like holiday booking etc in folders and delete the rubbish. However at any point I am able to go online, log into my Virgin account and retrieve an old email - I have hundreds of thousands of emails on there and periodically used to go in and delete a years worth '2010' or whatever.
My old PC used Thunderbird and when I got my new PC yesterday it offered me Outlook express for my emails so I accepted that and the last two or three months of emails downloaded. I did my usual, kept the important things and deleted the rest.
However I wanted an old email from 2019 - logged into Virgin online and there are archive messages for 2016 - 2019 and only 7 messages since then - everything else has gone.
I spent yesterday fiddling around with settings trying to see whether I had any hidden folders- but can find nothing. This morning I decided to download Thunderbird again to see if they retrieved the situation- but again nothing (So I will probably delete that in a moment). The only other thing is that my emails are not as plentiful, despite using spam filters I would normally get a batch of spammy type thigs overnight but that all seems to have stopped and I only had around 5 messages this morning. I can send emails, and using an old hotmail account I can send emails which I received by Virgin - so I have no idea what I have done! Is there anything I should look for in my Outlook system or on Virgin itself, or any other suggestions?
It could be worse I suppose, I have the new PC up and running successfully and I only have 2 issues (I may come to the other one later)

It was more likely Outlook rather than Outlook Express, considering OE hasn't been part of WIndows since the XP days. What's probably happened here is you've set Outlook up in POP3. What that does is download to your computer and remove it from the server. So if you log in on the website you won't see anything. You could have just copied the Thunderbird profile from the old computer to the new one and everything (near enough) would have been as it was:

I love the new PC but this is annoying, as is the fact it keeps going 'ding ding' and I've tried disabling everything to do with audio to no avail- and the most annoying thing- it will not use my Zebra printer despite me re installing it several times with no drivers etc. Arghhh - I'm walking away at the moment and worrying about it all another day .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. They are used a lot to do barcode so there are your stripes 😋0
