The last time I went to Makro (a few weeks ago) I picked up a couple of huge containers of Comfort Lily & Rice Flower fabric conditioner. Can't remember how much it was now but it was on offer and a great price. It'll save us a fortune as Im always buying the little bottles from Sainsburys!
We also picked up some bacon (think it was buy one get one free) which was a good price and it was also very tasty too! I always find myself wandering around the sweetie aisle reminiscing about the sweets I used to eat as a child. I could spend a fortune on these! You can look at their latest offers on their website if you have a makro card. You fill in your card details and then click on Makro Mail and it shows you the latest if you haven't already received the mail through the post.0 -
I have just got a Makro card. The nearest one to me is near Halesowen - quite a way - so I was wondering if anyone would know if it is any good, I read somewhere tonight that Makro is getting more expensive? I was hoping to start some bulk buying. We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

I used to have a Makro card, but really only found it useful for odd one off things they have on special, e.g bought a tent there once. However when it came to food, the supermarkets were comparable or often cheaper, Other problem was with my lot if there is loads of any item in the house they go at it like there's no tomorrow - once stocked up in Makro with enough cider to last DH a month, (He usually only drinks weekends) but because it was there he opened a bottle every night and it was gone in a week, worked out costing me more not less!!!0

We use the Makro in Halesowen so i spose i would be the best person to ask. I find the non food stuff in the Makro Mail sells very quickly and they dont normally have more stock to replace it. If theres something i want i usually phone them first to see if its in stock. Saying that, they normally have plenty of stock of the food stuffs. The large boxes of soap powder is cheap when its on Makro Mail and the fabric softener is cheap too. I love the meat, but its not particularly cheap although its good quality.
The guys on the fish counter are helpful although again the fish isnt particularly cheap.
My main gripe with the store is that theres not many staff floating around to grab if you need a bit of help.
Personally, if your coming a great distance i would weigh up the pros and cons before using the petrol.

IMO makro is only good when you can grab a bargain. Costco is better, well organised and more importantly, you can get a very good lunch with unlimited soda for less than £3.0

Hi all
I've just merged to an older thread which has some good tips on makro.

How do you join?
Do you have to work for certin people?
I have just been on the site and i have one 50 miles from me would it be worth me joining if i can?0 -
Strictly speaking, you have to be a bona fide business or self employed - though you don't have to be VAT registered - I'm not.
It is also possible to get a card via some employers, your employer has to supply Makro with a headed letter saying that you have authority to purchase goods for the company.0 -
thank you for the info0
