Probate - asking for PA15 Renunciation completion by the other executors, why not Power Reserved?

After 7 weeks, I received an email from the Probate service confirming receipt of documents then an hour later I have got another email asking for form PA15 to be completed by both my Dad and my Brother (the other named executors on my Mum's will) to renounce them applying now or in the future as they are both still alive.

I thought the "Power Reserved" option was to cover this? Have I done something wrong with that?

This is going to be very difficult for me now because my Dad has early stages of dementia, doesn't understand a thing about all this and I have to get him to sign this form and also him signing has to be witnessed by an independent person.

Are you sure you filled in that part correctly and chose the correct option?

I have checked back on my Probate answers and here is how I answered those questions each for my Brother and my Dad after stating they are both still alive:

Will any of the other executors be dealing with the estate? NO

Why isn’t [NAME] applying for probate? This executor doesn’t want to apply now, but may do in the future (this is also known as power reserved)

Have you notified [NAME] in writing that you are applying? YES

Did I do something wrong there?

It does sound like you may have put the wrong code in by mistake, although it sounds like you should have but F down for your father rather than C  or D. It is also possible they have made an error so you need to contact them to see what the problem is. If you have said D instead of C for your brother you need to correct that just in case he needs to take over from you.

    UPDATE:

Managed to contact Probate Service via webchat this morning.

They seem to consider me as a Substitute Executor and my Dad and Brother as full Executors.
This is incorrect. It is clearly written in the Will that the 3 of us are all the trustees and executors!

Advice was the reply to the email and query it that way.
I wondered if the fact my name is now different due to marriage is the problem (although it asked this via the application online and I answered as such), so I've attached a copy of my Marriage Certificate to the email just in case.

I hope it doesn't take another 7 weeks to get a reply!!!
