Where do I get an onion bag?
I've never seen one.  FWIW I keep mine in a wicker basket in the corner of the kitchen worktop.

click & collect - only- £4.50, otherwise £7 or eeek-£12. Not entirely MSE

I'm not sure that £land has them anymore, they were on sale there when Jane Asher's range was available & that's long gone

I think the main criterion is that it should be cotton and therefore fully breathable
Wondering if a double layer of almost worn out teacloth would work- just sew up the sides, hem, cord (or something recycled instead of cord)

Really the dark lining only matters if you are storing them somewhere light (mine are in a cupboard.)

What about a cotton (calico) shopping bag? There were lots of those around at one time, even given away as promo items

You might need to trawl the charity shops

Open weave shopping basket (as mentioned) stored in the dark

Ah there was a phase when everyone under the sun was giving out cotton shopping bags, so I’m sure I can find a darkish one.  My onions will be grateful (they really really don’t like the current storage arrangements).

Presumably though one can still simply walk into a store and purchase without paying said fee? All very popular before the internet age. The MSE alternative!

My onions sit in a metal basket lined with a plastic bag to catch any bits falling off underneath a kitchen cupboard. I've kept them there for years. If you really want a bag arrangement, sew up the arms and neck of an old t-shrt or the bottom, one arm and the neck. Hey presto, absolutely free bag.

Most of our onions are kept in a deep (perforated) metal drawer that forms part of a second hand butchers block we bought on fleabay fifteen years ago (my 40th birthday gift from family). The butchers block was a couple of hundred quid, but being a Smallbone one, it would have originally retailed at £1k+ and it's served us very well over the  years - for both storage and food prep - so despite the initial outlay, I consider it to have been a very MSE purchase 🙂

I do keep a bowl of onions on the worktop for everyday use and as we get through loads - using them in sandwiches (with cheese/ham) and frequently as a component of the main meal - they don't seem to suffer from exposure!

    Sorry, no you misunderstand
The £4.50 one, which is hessian, is only available on 'click & collect'- presumably not to be bought in store

The other 2 (dearer versions!) can be bought in store

If its click and collect only then that means its only in store. When you place your order a member of staff physically picks it for you from the shop floor.
