I've never seen one.  FWIW I keep mine in a wicker basket in the corner of the kitchen worktop.

They used to be sold in £land for £1

Basically mine is a drawstring bag made of something like hessian on the outside- a loose weave breathable fabric certainly and then it has a black lining. It has a zip in the side near the bottom- but I never use that.
Overall size is very approx A4, maybe a tad longer.
    Think school shoe bag idea.

I'm sure you could easily make one if you had some loose weave natural fabric for the outside and dark (again natural) lining. Same idea for a potato bag

Greenfinch - Agree with your comments on the Delia Smith frugal food book. I also have an old copy that came from a similar source bought when I was a student! Definitely of its time in terms of what were the cheap foods then and I am not sure that I would make all the recipes. I was surprised to see that some recipes from that book (as i's quie old) were on her website.

I agree that the Shirley Goode books are very good I acquired my gran's copy of "Goode for one" and was amazed to find her blogging away nearly 20 years later. Definitely worth keeping an eye out for her books second hand. Goode for 1 is an eye opener as it starts with no store cupboard which of course is more of a challenge than if you have even a few basics available.

I'm sorry you're in this situation and I hope this is helpful.
I read this article in the Guardian about Citizens Advice and it says that they are able to issue an emergency fuel voucher to help immediately.

I'm assuming that all branches of Citizens Advice are able to do the same thing and that you can easily get to one, sorry if this isn't any use to you. Good luck.
