BG Exclusive Fixed Energy v18 - Help!
Hi Forumites,
We have just moved into a 1/2 bed ground floor Victorian flat, from a new build, and we are really struggling to understand how the fixed rate we have been offered by British Gas compares to their SVT.
We were given the below quote:

Maths has never been my strong point, but I think the fixed tariff comes out better than the SVT, given the expected price increase coming up in October. I think it is about 32% over the SVT. Is that right? As the two are based on the same usage (one would assume), do you just divide the fix by the SVT to work out if it is in the “sweet spot” ML is talking about (now 35-40% over the price cap)?
Even considering the energy crisis, it seems like an astronomical amount of money for a 1/2 bed! I suppose we have yet to work out how much energy we will use, as it is all projected, and there is inevitably an adjustment period from an over insulated new build…
Thanks all for any help you can give.

Roughly here it is and yes the usage BG are suggesting is high but not necessarily wrong. Depends how the previous people have heated the flat and electricity used. You could conduct an energy reduction exercise1
