Sold car but garage never sent to DVLA

Sold my car and garage never informed DVLA. Now I have a parking ticket come through. I contacted dealer and they then informed DVLA about transfer of ownership but are not paying the parking ticket. What can I do?
I know I should have informed the DVLA but I trusted the dealer. A mistake that will not happen again.

What sort of ticket is it? A proper one, issued by a traffic warden for a council-controlled car park for example, or a speculative invoice from a private care park operator?1 -
If it was a private parking company look here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/parking-tickets-fines-parking
If a council look here

Not sure if you can do it retrospectivly and fill out this form now?
Sold your vehicle into the motor trade - Tell DVLA you've sold, transferred or bought a vehicle - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

@fuhad - do you have dated paperwork from when you sold them your car? If yes then contact the ticket issuer (please confirm who this is) with a copy of the paperwork to discharge any liability for the ticket.Jenni x1 -
Send the council the parking ticket, with proof that the dealership owned the car on the date you transfered it to them.
They will then send the ticket to the garage who in turn will send it to the new owner.
This is a common occurence for not just parking tickets but all kinds of motoring offences.0 -
We don't know yet that it was a Council ticket. Whilst the advice remains the same, private parking companies are not known to be blessed with common sense and prefer to target easy victims, so I wouldn't be surprised if they ignored the communication.Jenni x0
