Hermes/Evri Lost Laptop

Hermes collected a laptop for me and messaged me that it was at the depot for delivery, but it never arrived. They then said it was lost, then damaged, and finally lost again.
I have all correspondence. They are saying sorry we lost it but we won't compensate you. I emailed Martijn De Lange directly and below was the final response.
"My name is Stephen and I also respond to enquiries on behalf of Martijn De Lange.
I am truly sorry to
see that you have had such a negative experience with our service & that
your parcel is missing within the network. After re-evaluating this enquiry I
can confirm that the advice previously given by my colleague Gavin is correct
in that we are unfortunately unable to offer compensation for this item.
I understand how
frustrating this is but I can assure you that this has not been taken lightly.
We have raised this with the areas concerned to ensure that improvements are
made in said areas where necessary."
Can anyone advise on taking this further? Totally unacceptable.

If it was damaged then the opp should have received the damaged item.0
