PayPal - direct debit

I've tried making my usual monthly direct debit payment into my PayPal account (funds come from my bank account) and I just keep getting a message to say something went wrong and unable to do this at the moment.  I've updated the app but still no joy.  I'm not that familiar with PayPal, I don't know whether they've introduced a new minimum payment into the account that I'm not aware of?  The current account from which the money is coming is all ok and has sufficient funds in it.  Does anyone have an ideas what could be causing this, please?

Thank you ColdIron, I have no idea why this won't work, I've not had an issue with it since I set it up several months ago.  It's normally for £1, I also tried £2 earlier this morning, but still says "something's wrong, unable to do this at present".  I've updated the app, checked the bank account.  I cannot see any reason for this.

Have just spent the last 45 minutes on phone to PayPal who say the error is not their side, and that the bank have declined it.  No idea why as there's enough money in it to cover the minimal direct debit payments I make for 12 months.  PayPal suggest getting in touch with the bank to find out why, haven't got the time right now though to spend another 45 minutes to be told it's not the bank's side either.  Hey-ho.

How do you make a direct debit payment with paypal?

You can have paypal as a funding source when you make a purchase or send money with friends and family, is that what you are trying to do?

If you use the app, you can pull funds from a bank you have listed with PayPal via direct debit, rather than just sending it from the bank via FP.  This has worked successfully for several months, however, for some reason this month I'm experiencing the above mentioned issues.  I did contact my bank but, unsurprisingly, they said the issue is not their side and referred me back to PayPal (which I fully expected as there was no reason for the bank to reject it).  The only other thing I can think of doing is to delete the app and re-load it when I have time.  If that fails, it'll be another painfully long call to PayPal, and I hope I get a more informed member of staff when I call this time.

Edit:  I've just deleted and reinstalled the app, and I'm still getting the same problem.

Have you tried this via the website, rather than the app?

Thanks for reply, however, I'm told you can only do this particular transaction via the app, rather than online (the "pull" option isn't available to see online either, only send).  Thankfully I spoke to someone who actually knew what they were talking about today, and it was as simple as they'd blocked the account yesterday due to 1 (crikey, unforgiving!) incorrect login attempt.  I could understand it if multiple, but 1?  And the less than helpful CS rep couldn't even tell me that yesterday.  Anyway, normal service is resumed - for now...

I'm pretty sure they started blocking that a few years ago, I'm surprised it still worked for you.

I was able to get the block removed once, but the last time they blocked it the customer service rep said they weren't allowed to remove the block.

They basically lose money when you do this, so they will block it again if you keep doing it.
