Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light and dry underfoot - forecast sun shine, cloudy and showers. We'll see!
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was use up from the fridge - sausages, quiche, pork pie with jacket potatoes, cheese and beans for the menfolk. I had sausages and salad. Tonight will be LO pork braised in stock with roast potatoes, veg, yorkshires and gravy.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad, we'll see how today goes.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.My trip yesterday went well despite my local garage having no fuel. I only had just one a quarter tank left and I'm a bit OCD about fuel so I drove relatively slowly on the way down. Luckily the traffic was very light so I didn't cause a tailback and was able to get petrol quite soon into Glasgow and managed to avoid buying it at the expensive places in between. The chap at Majestic Wine was a bit miffed at me bringing the case back, he tried to insist that it wasn't spoiled but exchanged it for me anyway. The only other thing I did down there was to buy a focaccia caprese sandwich, my favourite. The drive home was less stressful so I enjoyed it more.I picked two ripe strawberries yesterday, my first of the season. 😀 There's only three new plants so I won't get too many so I'll savour the fruit. The new seedlings are growing, they'll be ready next year I expect. The pea shoots are growing well, they'll be ready to start harvesting soon so I need to plant more today. I've also ordered some cut-and-come again salad leaves, fingers crossed that they all produce well. This morning the gardener is coming, I'm hoping that she can fathom out how to put together my new cordless strimmer 😀 then I can get on with it.TA - I hope that your DD and GDD's are doing OK after their shock and that a courtesy car is sorted. For now I'm off for a coffee, I hope that our poorlies are on the mend. Happy Tuesday to all.14

Morning All
No sunshine yet but I think it's on it's way! Very warm this morning but no washing to hang out today.
Called at the allotment yesterday to give everything a good drenching then home to start the pressure washing of the deck. Although it was about 20 degrees out I was frozen as I got quite wet, had to change from my flip flops after I power washed my toes! Quite sore, don't try it.
The dinner hall yesterday decided to put on a picnic, a sandwich, quarter of an apple or 4 grapes, babybel and ice cream, absolutely shocking for those who pay £2.65 and were looking forward to their chicken dippers or macaroni. We have children who probably haven't had a proper meal since we finished on Thursday, I really felt for them. I've put in a complaint but doubt it will go anywhere.
I'm going to work on the bus this morning, I have a free bus pass now so it could save a fair bit on petrol, we'll see how it goes!
Thinking of the poorlies, those feeling sad and those just not feeling 100%. Take care. XX13 -
Good morning, it's sunny here hope it lasts.Sorry to read about your DD's accident TA, what a shock for her and the girls - hope they'll soon be feeling better. What a lovely farewell to your mum Gers.Hope you don't have covid too badly Maddy, we got off fairly lightly when we had it in January. It affected my sense of taste though.I would like to go to the IoW, Coxy, I've always thought it sounds nice there. That was a bit of a journey for your Dd DP1, 2 hrs from Sunderland to Newcastle, terrible. We are ok here, didn't go out on Sunday, just tidied up outside and Dh cut the hedge. Yesterday was the Book Club and a bit of shopping.Today will just be a bit of housework, pottering, and the quiz tonight.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can - take care folks.14

Morning all
Its a bit dull and overcast here today hopefully the sun will appear later, off to work for me and I think we will make some cookies today.
Dinner tonight will be something with lamb steaks, I got them out of the freezer to make a biryani for yesterday and OH had the day off and got out some lamb mince and used that instead, so might do some mash and veg tonight with the lamb streaks.
DD is off today so she will have a tidy round and do some potatoes for dinner, the dw has been emptied and I will put a wash on before work.
TA I meant to say thank goodness your dd and dgd are all ok, hope they continue to do well xxxx
Gers what a lovely final tribute to your mum xxxx
Have good days all xxx12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Wow we have a better day forecast! Up to 19 deg and some sun!! After all the miserable weather of late that will be most welcome. The local weatherman said that Sunday had been the coldest June day for 31 days. I can believe it, I was back under my heated throw!
I had my usual nice meet up with DFF yesterday, much chatting over our coffees then lunch and I am hanging my head in shame - still not choosing from the healthy options!
Expensive day in store - vet day for Sparkle. My purse will be another 60/70 pounds lighter when I get home. DD still not sorted with a car so her lovely chappie offered to take us. She was on with the insurance co for half the morning yesterday and she can't expect a quick result from her claim. There seems to be no rush for anything these days. Up to 5 days before the car is picked up and up to another 5 days whilst it's assessed so it will be a while before she gets the result of it all. The only consolation, if it is a write off, is that she has never liked that car!
I suppose when I get home from the vets I had better catch up on a few jobs but if the day lives up to forecast I may find myself sitting out reading instead!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. MADDIE I hope your symptoms are not too severe and you feel better soon. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning everyone looks a bit brighter today I don’t know how long it will last of to work in a minute back in at 5 as I suspected we have loads of work in after the long weekend it looks like we will never get through it but we will I suppose it shows that the local businesses have done well out of the bank holiday.TA hopefully sparkle will be on best behaviour today and your DD gets her insurance sorted soon thankfully she’s alright hope you feel better soon Maddie.must dash thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing12

Good morning folks, dry and dull here, should stay fine though.
TA I have been thinking about your DD, I am a cynic - these companies are mega quick to take our money, but often not so strong on service.
Camelot - that is awful, poor kiddies expecting to be given a decent lunch, I hope that your complaints are noted.
Gers fingers crossed for the unveiling of the strimmer. I loved your photograph, such a lovely place for your DM's ashes.
nmlc your meals always sound so tasty, your menfolk may not know how lucky they are,
Ruby I have not cooked Lamb for ages, none in the freezer, will put it on the list for when I am allowed out.
Scarlett I do seem to have some taste, I may amuse myself by trying different things today.
I felt ropey yesterday, the unrelenting headache was the worst part, and the permanently running nose. I spent the day either huddled in thick pjs and robe under a blanket or back in bed, at all times surrounded by snuggly wheat bags.
Fingers firmly crossed, but so far this morning I feel a lot more human.
Today's task is firming up the SM order, need to get my head around things we might need if both poorly and tide to the house for a spell. I keep a well stocked larder generally, but would need soup, extra breads and milks (GF & LF as well), better get extra baked beans for OH if he is catering for himself.
Not heard back from NHS England, need to try and get hold of GPs, or may e-mail consultant I guess. Snoozer did Steve get in touch directly with his hospital?
Have a good day all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)12 -

A quarter of an apple just sounds mean, well, the whole thing is mean and not sustaining at all. I hope that your complaint is heard, perhaps some parents will also phone up.Maddie - I hope you feel better soon, enjoy the tasting.Izzy - work will fly past today, it's good to be busy! Before I came downstairs I started on the bedroom of doom and only made things worse.I wanted to clear space in the wardrobe but ended up pulling it all out. At least I found the storage bag for the duvet extension. Once the gardener is here I'll take some big bags upstairs to sort out 'rubbish', 'recycle' and keep piles. The big plastic storage box will get some stuff into it today. There'll be good few things to go to a CS, especially bedding. Years ago I bought a set of flannelette bedding and then found it too hot because of my fab duvet and electric blanket so it has to go, I've given it too much space for too long.
I need to find a piece of dowling or thin broomshank handle to hang up the beautiful wall tapestry which my grandmother stitched in the early 60s and which I had restored last year, it's not mean to linger at the bottom the wardrobe.11 -
Morning all. So pleased it's sunny today; it seemed really autumnal yesterday.
Did my food shopping yesterday and a bit of dead heading in the front garden. Bought just one courgette plant, which we will put in a patch near the Rosemary. Last year we planted two courgettes and had masses to give away so I'm hoping one will be just right for us. It's a yellow one, just for a change.
Putting a pork steak with fennel in the slow cooker this morning then I have child care for DGS until DH takes over this afternoon as I've booked to have my hair cut. Off out early tonight as well, hence the slow cooker meal. Tuesday can be a tricky day to fit everything in.
Have a good day everyone.10 -
Morning everyone
I'm quite envious of those of you who have sunshine - quite dull here though perhaps it will brighten up later.
I went back to work yesterday afternoon and was shattered last night - seems ridiculous - very lazy night and away to bed early. Did have a little potter in the garden after tea which I enjoyed - I'll have to get a bigger pot for little one's beanstalk next time I'm in a shop as it's getting really big.
Camelot - they could at least give them a whole apple! The kids will probably be excited about having picnic food and not tell their parents they missed their hot meal.
TA - I hope your daughter doesn't wait too long for a courtesy car - at least no-one was badly hurt.
Well I'd better get on. I have towels almost finished washing so I'll get them out soon.
Hope everyone has a good day x
