A renewal application will not proceed until the old passport is received by HMPO. Ensuring their certain delivery is probably worthwhile, but up to you...
Evolution, not revolution1 -
I sent mine standard 2nd class.
New one back in 10 days, old one back 21 daysNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill2 -
put them in separate envelopes with the PEX numbers on the outside - then put them both in a strong envelope and send them to the one office (I think Glasgow are quicker at scanning them on than other offices at the moment) you can send them however you want - signed for if you want the confirmation that they have been received. After you have sent them you may get another email asking to send them - these are automatic messages - it just means that they have not opened the mail and scanned them on yet. If they stay in the online digital system they should be done quickly .Londranger242 said:Hi y'all I have today just renewed my wife and i's passports on line. all is ok but just wanted to ask do I need to send the as yet unexpired passports in separate envelopes and do I really need to send them special delivery @ £6.85 each ?1 -
I sent my old passport back by tracked/signed for post. Yes it was pricey at nearly £7 but in the grand scheme of things I thought it was worth it for peace of mind. I was instructed in my application to send the document to the Durham office.
I was able to see that the old passport arrived the next day. It took around 2 weeks for the passport office to acknowledge receipt but it all went very quickly after that. New passport arrived about 5 days later and the cancelled passport a couple of days later.0 -
We sent ours back just normal first class but the choice is completely up to you. It took 2 weeks for them to update online they had received them. As others have said if you don’t send the old ones back then the renewal will not progress.0
