YouTube + Chromebook puzzle

Until recently, if I wanted to bookmark something on YouTube, I hit ctrl + d, the bookmark box came up, and job done.  Similarly, if I wanted to send the link to somebody, I just copied the URL from the address box at the top of the page and Bob's your uncle.

Since last week this has changed.  Now when I open YouTube, there's a red band across the top of the screen for a moment as the page opens.  That wasn't there before.  Weirdest thing is though that the address box has disappeared from the top of the screen, hitting ctrl + d has no effect on anything, and I can't send the link because the address box isn't there for me to copy the URL from!

What's going on and how do I put things back to how they were please?

Are you accessing yt via browser ? or an app? I don’t know anything about chrome books

Neither do I, so I thought I'd ask on here.  I'm accessing it via the YouTube icon in whatever the bar at the bottom of my screen is called.

I'm not sure but if you were on a normal browser/pc I could suggest alt+v to bring up the view menu? clutching at straws of course

Definitely the YouTube app rather than via your browser so the browser functions won't work.

Easy enough to share YouTube videos though, there will be a share link just below the video and also a save button to put it on your YouTube favourites list which will do what you are requiring.

Or just open the browser instead and navigate to YouTube for the original browser functionality.
