  • @Aimingforthegoodlife thank you for your kind words!

MRI is this afternoon.  Going on my own which am a bit apprehensive about - DH will watch the DC.  I honestly think this is peri menopause however - all the symptoms fit (I mean, they also fit MS or fibromyalgia but I am trying to think this is the most logical explanation), so seeing doctor again tomorrow and am going to push for HRT.

Had a lovely walk/cuppa with my choir friend Sat pm - we only met in Sept last year and we can barely talk at choir - a few snatched minutes at the start and in the break - was so lovely to get to know her properly and we have so much in common I am hopeful for a new friendship (it seems more difficult to make friends as you get older).  Sounds like her husband also has much in common with DH.

Had meeting with builder this morning - we were dreading it as we never know what to expect but it was fine.  Annoyingly the DC's carpet cannot be fitted thursday and neither can the sofa be delivered - pushed to 5th instead.  And we are going to have to move out the weekend after we move in to allow the hall floorway to be underfloor heated, screeded and tiled which is more than annoying but we will decamp to MIL then.  Builder saying we didn't tell him about the need for electric sockets in a certain place or that carpet was due to go in 28th but we have copies of whats apps and emails setting that out - honestly!

Off today with DC1 - took him to park then soft play - incident at soft play with him "chasing" a toddler round and the toddlers mum intervened.  To be fair to DC1, this toddler had earlier been terrorising him (as I had witnessed this) so think he was just getting his own back but many tears and trying to explain to him why he can't chase toddlers (he just doesn't understand and starts coming out with gobbledegook.  My heart honestly breaks for him.  However, he's had 4 hours of fun (including trampolines and go karts) so seems happy enough.

Back to work tomorrow.  Not sure I'm ready though I also feel I sort of am.  I don't think being off whilst in this holiday let is actually great for my MH.
  • Hope everything went well this afternoon, my MRI is Thursday morning not looking forward to it.  Take care of yourself you have so much going on xx
  • @Four_Seasons hope yours went ok yesterday x

MRI was fine but results up to 2 weeks.  So a waiting game.  Managed to convince doctor to trial HRT so now sporting a rather fine patch on my b*m.  However, will take a few weeks to kick in apparently.

Went back to work Weds but doctor has certified me to do only half days.  However, I was just so so wiped after both days, even working only 3 hours a day - was in a lot of pain with my hands.  We stupidly decided to take the DC out for dinner for a "treat" last night.  Did a 530 sitting at a kid friendly pizza place and honestly wish we hadn't.  I was feeling so wiped after taking an amitryptyline for the pain.  I had a pizza and pint of lime and soda, DH had some chicken creation (which he thinks wasn't chicken) and a pint of guinness, kids shared a kids pizza and chips and had a scoop of ice cream each - £55 including tip which seems a lot actually.  The DC were not well behaved so it was not a relaxing experience.  I got straight into bed when we got back at 7pm.  Pizza leftover for lunch today however.

Not sure what doing today as weather is windy and wet.  We are debating park but who knows.

Worrying about cash already as we have already spent a third of our month's budget with 3 weeks to go.  Measures to cut back must be taken.

  • Weather turned out ok so took the kids to the park (free) where they managed to amuse themselves for a couple of hours.  Had to fill car with petrol (£72).  We seem to now be going through a tank every 10 days given we are further out and also because we are trying to spend as little time as possible sat in the holiday let.  Got some beers and bits also.

In the afternoon we took the DC on a walk we've never been on before which was nice and had some fun swings for them - they seemed entertained and much activity and fresh air for them both.

Today we are to same park with in-laws but our turn to buy coffee.  I then need to do a shop at the other supermarket as part of our weekly shop.  DH making chicken chasseur tonight and I have a piece of cheesecake to eat I didn't manage last night.  DC1 will want to stay up and watch Ant n Dec's saturday night takeaway.

Tomorrow we have an egg hunt in the morning at MIL and then there's an event on a local field we are hoping with little rides and things.  Not sure what we will do for rest of afternoon.

Need to start thinking about packing soon (yay!) as we are hopefully moving back in next weekend though I am still not convinced and think it might be a rough couple of weeks if we do.

I vividly recall taking my 2 out for a so called eating out treat.  I always envisaged a perfect evening with beautifully presented children with perfect manners who are all their food (including veg) whilst we talked about interesting things.  The reality was they drank their coke (a treat), squabbled, said they were bored and never finished their food.
    enjoy your weekend

Think I must have been really lucky with my kids when eating out as they were always perfectly behaved and ate everything they were given.  Indoors was a completely different matter!

Have enjoyed reading your diary! How exciting to be moving back in to your newly renovated home next weekend! All the hassle and expense will be worth it!
Hope MRI results will be ok. I had tingling and numbness for a couple of years after having a vaccine as an adult. It did eventually resilve itself but I was worried sick that I had MS so I can thoroughly empathise. Hopefully all will be well. Mind yourself.

  • @castlelough thank you for your kind words

So we are about halfway through this month's budget with 2 weeks to go.  Will probably have to fill both cars with petrol (again), especially with all the back and forth this weekend moving things back in.    I am not hopeful of huge amounts of savings from budget this month.  Carpets have come in under budget by a whole £16 waa hoo.

Finished work for the day as on half days at moment so that's good.  Tough being back as lots of demands already but we will hopefully get there.

DC1 with MIL until 3 and then I'll get him from there and DC2 from nursery.  Dinner from stores tonight and DH hoping to be back and forth to the house a bit.  He's determined we will have Saturday night at home but I am not convinced!!!  I've sorted out a pile of books/stuff in the kids' room and started a charity bag and I've unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher so now exhausted.  "Should" go for a run/walk but rain is on the way and I'm tired so am going to watch the new episode of Greys and possibly FBI/FBI Most Wanted and try not to beat myself up.

I really don't feel excited at moving back in - I think it's because I know there is still a fair way (and hassle) to go - in some ways staying here would be easier but we just can't afford to keep paying rent and storage charges.  Gah, just want the builders gone and out of our lives forever (evil laugh)

Hope you manage to get back into your house soon. The building work sounds like a nightmare. Hopefully the health issues will resolve when life is less stressful. I have not watched Greys since Meredith left. What season are they on now?

  • @enthusiasticsaver thank you for your kind words.  It's up to season 20.  Meredith is still in it, though very sparingly now.  There are a bunch of new interns.  I had given up on it a while back as I felt it had lost decent story lines and pace but I think season 19 was ultimately quite good.  It's why I signed up to Disney+ (MSE at 1.99 a month for 3 months).

Sofas supposed to be coming tomorrow.  Builder dropped on us at about 3pm that diggers will be in the driveway tomorrow morning to dig for the land drains.  Been desperately trying to get hold of furniture people to get it in afternoon but zero joy.  I am getting so sick of the builder just dropping things on us - he knew we had moved sofas from last friday to this.  Same with toilets - we were told plumber would source then he didn't and it was mad panic to buy something in stock locally.  I honestly will never ever in my life do a project again!!!!
