IMO, you're doing the right thing. Nobody, I'm sure, lies on their deathbed thinking, "I wish I had more money".
Everybody has a different situation. One relative was distraught on their deathbed as they had not been very good with money, and were about to leave their family with a big mess/debts to sort out. Two sides to every coin.......
I think there's a very big difference between leaving a financial mess, and leaving nothing. There are no pockets in shrouds so spend some of your money wisely, making memories. I wouldn't advocate spending every last penny- now that would be foolish!

There are lots of people who wake every day in retirement worried about how to pay the bill, how to feed themselves etc, sometime due to a spend it now attitude as who knows what the future holds. Well for them it was a like that went on for 20 or even 30 years longer than they had funds for.
It is a balancing act and to say sod tomorrow you may be dead is very poor advice and irresponsible. Also saying only focus on the retirement is also poor. It is about finding the balance and erring on the side of caution that whilst you will be a long time dead, being a long time alive in poverty is not a life to live.
Good luck to the OP who seems to have found the balance that works for them at the moment.
