Hi

I bought a 69 plate Nissan Qashqi in metallic/pearlescent white today. I'm trying to decide whether to buy the Nissan Qashqai Protection Pack at £449.00 This includes front & rear mud flaps, boot liner and "luxury" mats in addition to a product called DIAMONDBRITE which the sales person said was a protective "coating" to the interior and exterior of the car. Has anyone used these exterior coatings on their bodywork? Is it worth it? Are they good/bad for the paintwork? Before I google I though I would ask on here for some advice. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks.

A quick Google shows other places doing it for half that. On the other hand how fussy are you about how your car looks? Some people are fanatical about how their car looks, most of us don't really care.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

I like to look after my cars but don't want to damage the paintwork with this "coating" so just wondered if there were any people in the trade on here tonight for some advice.

Coatings in general are good, but this product is not great, and I certainly wouldn't let a dealer apply it at any cost.

They simply won't take the time to do the necessary preparation and application to justify the cost.

Get the other bits elsewhere (can you get them individually online for cheaper?) and if you want a good durable costing applied go to an independent detailer.

My car has stickers on windows suggesting it had this and glasscoat when new.

I'm horrified that mud still sticks to it and it still has some stone chips!

    Waste of money.

You can buy DIAMONDBRITE and DIY - Bodyshops did not use to like these coatings as they created problems when doing patch repairs

Many thanks for your helpful replies. I'm veering towards not getting it unless lots of people say it's fantastic. I'm planning to buy the qashqai mats for the best price I can find online, not bothered about the other stuff. It's the coating I was wary of as it could potentially damage the bodywork which is in good condition apart from a few stone chips. Thanks again.

Like most things from a main dealership, it's incredibly overpriced and poor quality.

Coatings like these are just durable forms of wax. They won't do much for things like stone chips, but as they are hydrophobic they make cleaning easier and reduce the chance of causing light scratches.

Problem is the car needs to be fully decontaminated, polished and then applied in correct conditions. No dealership is ever going to do this. They probably pay less than £10 for it, and then wipe it on after a quick wash that you usually get for free, and then charge you £400 for the pleasure. It's a complete con. I've seen videos of some customers cars and there is no evidence anything has even been applied....

I'm literally just watching a video from a detailer saying exactly this ha ha. i.e. Don't get it done at a dealership as they don't get given enough time to prep the car properly. Thanks again for your reply, much appreciated.

I agree with others, go to a decent valeter, they will prep your car properly and apply their equivalent of dimondbrite, for a lot less…and, make a better job

Sold a similar treatment back in the 90s  for £120 - we paid the company that did our car prep £19.00 - good money spinner.
