Morning
Pretty cloudy here today but sun forecast soon
Good visit with mum yesterday she is really enjoying the jubilee celebrations that the home is putting so much effort into. Her carer brought over a picture of a union flag she had coloured in, and it really struck me how life can switch. Think I’ll dig out one of my adult colouring books for her but may be too difficult now. I was going to ask to take her picture to put up on the fridge at home but it would have spoiled their display. We watched the St Pauls cathedral service together and enjoyed seeing all the royal gang arrive. She lost interest once lunch arrived and the service began, so I slunk off. Mixed emotions.
Usual Sat plans today, volunteer call this morning and some tidying up. Going to put a fairly large gammon (for me) in the slow cooker with some coke for the rest of the day. Should yield a fair few meals starting with gammon egg chips and peas tonight.
Have a good day all DP1 hope you are loving your daughter being home

Morning All
Thanks for the start Nelski, your DM certainly seems to have settled in well but still difficult for you. Hope you are OK after your tumble.
The sun is just beginning to burn through the cloud, we are expected to have a lovely sunny day. The bedding is on the line, towels to do once I've had a shower.
Busy morning yesterday, got the shopping done and watered the allotment, home by 10 past 9. The drain chap arrived (he's a friend of DD's partner) and did his stuff. The outside drain was completely blocked with silt, moss of the roof and sand from the block paving. It's completely cleared now so hopefully the rain water will now go down the drain and not seep through into the wall. Fingers crossed!
Pottered about in the greenhouse - tomato plants anyone? Every one of the seeds I put in have germinated so I have about 30 plants to find homes for. Same with the squash, I must remember next year to plant fewer seeds. I think I got carried away with having a new greenhouse!
Library this morning and have a bag of soft platics to take to the recycling bin, will call at Aldi on my way back for a couple of bits then back to the allotment for an hour. Hoping for a relaxing afternoon reading in the garden later on.
Hope you enjoyed the gig Gers.
Hope you are all enjoying the holiday weekend, hugs to those in need. Take care. XX10 -
Morning folks and thanks NELS for starting us off. It's another non-summery start to the day here. Cloud cover and not much sun forecast. The garden seat I dragged from the garage at Easter isn't getting much use so far this year.
I intend to get the bus down into town when I drag myself away from the computer. Just a few fresh bits needed to put me on until my fortnightly sm delivery next w/e. I have just been browsing the Clark's outlet sale and spotted some Cloudstepper style trainers less than half price and free delivery. I have some I bought years ago (looking rather dog eared these days) and promised myself some more if I ever saw them at a good price so they have been ordered.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Take care and be safe all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Good morning, thanks for starting Nels. your mixed emotions about your mum are understandable, it's so sad for you. It's a grey start here, though yesterday it became a bit brighter and was warm and sunny in the sfternoon, we went for a walk.We thought we'd go to the indoor market today at Tynemouth, it's in the old railway station there, and is on every weekend.. I think I'll take the small cool bag because there's a good sausage stall, the sausages are made locally and they are nice, we've had them before.Who knows, there may be a sudden heatwave, so we'll keep those sausages cool just in case.We are also planning to go to North Shields fish quay for fish and chips, they are scrumptious there.Might as well go while we're nearby. That's the plan anyway.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, whatever you have planned for today.Take care folks.12

Good morning everyone.Nelski - it's so lovely to read about your Mum and how she's enjoying herself and safe now. You're right, things change and turn so easily.DP1 - I was so glad that your DD managed to get across for her weekend trip, I'm sure you're having a great time with her.My time in Darlington has both refreshed and exhausted me. 😀 Spending even a short time with my friends was so good. On Thursday watched the whole of the Trooping and in the evening was the gig. Seeing 150 16 / 17 year olds being so incredibly well behaved whilst still having a wonderful time was a real delight. The band were very impressive, much more than any of the adults expected, put on a great show, were very well rehearsed and played to the crowd in rock band fashion. I'm so glad I went.Yesterday I left Darlington at about 9am to drive up to Newcastle, an old familiar journey. After a quick pit stop for fuel I visited some friends in Heaton, not for too long. I only stopped in Glasgow to pick up some shopping so arrived back here on the dot of 6pm. Whacked!!
Today the sun is bursting out of the sky inviting me outside so I will have to do that. There's a washing load to go on and hang out, I may be forced to mow the lawn and I'll potter around. The dried peas I planted in a tray in the kitchen are sprouting, not ready to eat yet though won't be long. The price of a packet of pea shoots versus a packet of dried peas makes this well worth it.I hope that the sun shines on us all today, my thoughts drift to our poorlies. Happy Saturday to everyone.11 -
Good morning all, exhausted, but happy folks here. Bouncing baby boy has arrived safely to GD and her partner in the North, he arrived just before a chunk of his Midlands family left to join up with the SW contingent to celebrate a wedding, couldn't have timed it better, so lovely for a bunch of us to be together for a double celebration.
Trying to find the energy to go along to charity coffee morning, where we hope to see some of my gang too.
Nelski thank you for starting us off, understandably you are conflicted about your DM, but must be a huge relief that she is happy and well cared for.
Gers the gig sounds great, BIL and new SIL had a fantastic band at their after wedding party, it was great to be part of it, 5 years to 80 years all having a great time.
Scarlett I really must start a note book with the names of some of the places you mention for when we are hoping to holiday in your area again.
TA well spotted with the trainer, nothing beats comfy well supported feet IMHO
Camelot isn't it always the way with seed sowing mega success or massive failure.
Desperately need rain for the garden, OH says we are due several wet days after today, may to do some watering in the meantime though.
Have a good Saturday all.

Morning everyone so pleased you had a good time Gers I agree sometimes the young ones get such a bad press and it’s nice to be reminded it’s just a few that let the side down Nelski nice to hear your DM has settled but your right it is difficult to see sometimes.it’s very cloudy here but meant to get out later I ended up wallpapering the chimney breast yesterday where we had the new fire in I thought I had made a mistake hubby didn’t like the wallpaper and it was starting to rub off on me but once we got it on it’s lovely he wallpapered I was the labourer pasting cutting and tidying up lots of paper now seems to be stripes and straight lines when you have wonky walls they are not good . Had a walk round the cricket club with all the grandchildren there was a family fun day on it was lovely music and the queen on stilts fancy dress a really good afternoon.hubby is now cleaning out the fish tank to put back in the living room and that’s it for a while we only have one fish jaws he’s a whopper lived on his own for years as he eats any friends he will outlive us .thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Dry and bright here for now after an evening and night of rain, we are due a storm tonight at 8 ish which is meant to continue all night, we did not have the bbq yesterday due to the rain so will try again tonight.
Housework to do this morning and we will then get the dogs out for a walk might go to the beach today as everywhere else will be muddy.
Hopefully dinner tonight will be bbq if not we will cook and eat indoors, beds have been stripped and on a hot wash, ran out of time to do them yesterday.
Nels Im so pleased mum seems to have settled well, it must be hard for you though xxxx
Maddie congratulations xxx
Have good days all xxx9 -
Popped in to add my congratulations to Maddie and family - such lovely news.I've stripped my bedding, taken off the winter duvet bit and got the washing machine chugging away. Once it's done and hung out I'll sort out other things.
Yes, young adults do get a rough press at times even though it's mostly a small minority. As an ex-teacher of secondary school age and then college age the behaviour of this crowd was so impressive. The manager of the venue even approached a set of parents of band members to say how much the staff had dreaded the event and how fabulous they found the crowd. A huge majority of them have been friends since nursery up and really support each other.Right, washing to hang out. I'll mow the lawn in the afternoon once the dew has dried up.9
