Scottish Power Nightmare

Options
Hi everyone, I've recently been looking for some advice regarding my finances and figured this would be a good place to start. After almost a year Scottish Power have finally got my account energised properly, but obviouly I have accrued quite a large debt. I spoke with SP earlier today and they have agreed to set up a direct debit of £108 per month to pay my bill and the arrears, but when I deducted this from my income, I essentially get left with £54 a month to live off.

I'm quite a frugal person and never go out drinking or clubbing etc and always aim to purchase the cheapest items at the supermarket and/or my local convenience store, so I think I might be able to manage, but does anyone have any advice of who I can contact to see if I can get it reduced? I've heard StepChange are good?

I was going to post details of my outgoings but I didn't want to make this post any longer. if anyone wants to know of them I'd be happy to provide them.

Really you think this person lives without any other living costs?

Water springs to mind, council tax and lots more. They are obviously stating disposable income.

@Cactoise   I don't think SP are your basic problem - rather the cost of energy is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Have a look at the Debts board -  you may not be in debt yet but are getting close.  Also complete a Statement of Affairs (someone I'm sure will post the link)   Keep a diary and record every penny you spend -  that cup of coffee, your food, energy, travel .......................
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I would suggest that posting all the details in the 'Debt Free' group would be more helpful for you...
The people there will give some great help and guidance.
