Moved nearer parents - big mistake

    Part of the problem may be that things haven’t turned out as thought they would be. Your mother does not sound sympathetic  to you and your job didn’t work out. When she says things like well now you know what is like or turns on the tears, take the chance to suggest getting outside help. Be firm that you cannot go on as you are. Work out what help you can realistically give. Make it clear  exactly what that is and stick to it.

    GP surgeries should have social prescribing team in place and they often offer support to carers (I work in our local SP team). Perhaps your mum could get a referral to them for the support she needs in dealing with your dad’s dementia. 
    There will be counselling/support groups available to you too via the GP surgery, although with the high levels of depression and anxiety that people are living with there may be a delay to acces I’m afraid.
