Paint drying time

I have just painted my daughter's bedroom with Dulux emulsion. She has shelves in an alcove which usually have soft toys and books on. I know the paint is touch dry in a few hours but how long should I leave it before putting the books and toys back in place? I am unsure as they will be left against the new paint work and I obviously don't want them to stick or cause damage.
Thanks

Standard emulsion? Personally I'd give it 24 hours, just to be on the safe side. Probably 12 hours would be more than enough, but there's no hassle in giving it a day, just to be absolutely sure. If you can leave the windows open overnight, that'll help get rid of any fumes as well - not that they're dangerous, just a tad unpleasant for some people.

At least a full day.
