Very Old Sage Accounting Package - help please

I am still using a very old (2014) version of Sage v20 which as far as I can tell is not 'in or on a cloud' but was installed onto two computers via a disc.

This still works very well for us, not only for the accounting but also managing orders/production schedules. The business is much smaller now than when we used Sage to its full potential.

I have been told today that all old versions of Sage will stop working in September this year - see below

"We are writing to inform you about some essential security updates to Sage services which directly impact older versions of Sage 50 Accounts and Sage 50cloud Accounts.

We are making these changes in line with industry standard security protocols, to protect you, our clients, customers and provide long term sustainability of the software.

These updates are due to take place on 30 September 2022. After this date, anyone using Sage 50 Accounts and Sage 50cloud Accounts v26.2 and below will no longer be able to access their software.

Can anyone please tell me how/if this will apply to us? Can they realistically stop our version from working? Our records are not held 'on the internet' Sage do not have access to our computers.

Quite apart from the worry about our existing records a much more expensive version of Sage will not suit our purpose.

As a sub question: I have only ever known Sage packages - Do other packages exist that can manage sales order processing, stock control and accounts (Sales & Purchasing) and Bank. Our payroll is done elsewhere.

All advice gratefully received

You say you're using a v20, and this affects Sage 50. Unless your software definitely refers to Sage 50 anywhere, you may well be OK, but the people to ask would be Sage, who will probably be horrified to find you are using such an old package which will not have been supported or updated for some time. The lack of updates may not matter to you as long as nothing changes, eg the rate of VAT (unless that can be controlled within the package).

I can't help with other suggestions but I'm sure others will be able to, and it may be sensible to move on now anyway if you can find something suitable.

Thank you for replying Savvy Sue.

Yes, I'm sure Sage will be horrified and try to sell me a package costing thousands which is why I haven't asked them ....yet.

Perhaps my second question is more important:

I have only ever known Sage packages - Do other packages exist that can manage sales order processing, stock control and accounts (Sales & Purchasing) and Bank. Our payroll is done elsewhere.
