Additional cardholder unable to make purchases with Barclaycard due to online verification

It's bonkers. My other half is the main cardholder. In order to make an online purchase I need to either receive a code by text (OH mobile number, they can only have 1 mobile number for verification texts) or in the Barclaycard app (only main cardholders can log in so as an additional cardholder I can't use this).
Going to change credit cards and get my own account as Barclaycard have rendered theirs useless for me for online purchases

No, only account holders have a log in and the T&Cs say you shouldn't share log in details.

AmEx is actually the only card I've come across which gives secondary cardholders their own log in details - Barclays, Natwest, Lloyds, Virgin etc dont.

We have 3 Barclaycards (main and two additional) and they want mobile numbers for all three.

That said, we didn't have an opportunity yet to check how verification texts work.

Barclaycard allow individual mobile numbers to be stored for additional cardholders so they can receive texts for online payments. Numbers can be set on web or in app.

Not when I requested it. They have both mobile numbers stored but only 1 can be set as the verification number for both cardholders, leaving one person reliant on the other being available for codes.

Can you not put the Barclaycard app on your phone too and log in with your partner's details

Old thread. But I was trying to find information out about this. Very vague everywhere. I had just updated the secondary cardholder's number in the app.

I called Barclaycard, they confirmed the mobile number is needed, so when a secondary cardholder makes an online purchase, they receive an SMS with a code to enter in the payment popup on the merchants website.

Once the mobile number is updated, Barclaycard pass It through to VISA who process the security codes (the agent checked for me and it has been passed through). It can then take up to 7 days for VISA to process the number (security checks and the like, I guess), they should receive a confirmation SMS that it's been set up and they can start making purchases.
