Moved from SSE to OVO? Check your bills.

I just got transferred from SSE to OVO and my new bill is way over estimated (I refuse to have a smart meter) but to make it worse I have just logged in to OVO checked my previous billing history and they are showing me as in debt and carrying forward that debt when my SSE was paid in full and I have the paper bills and receipts to prove it. So if you have moved the same please check your billing history and be prepared for a long argument because the OVO customer service is shockingly bad.

Hello clanger12345,I just got a letter from SSE saying that my account is to change to OVO and your post has scared me even more than I was already! It says 'We're starting preparations to move your energy account...' and 'We're sure you'll be happy with OVO. But you're free to choose another supplier or switch plans...' I'm wondering if I should switch to UW as they have a good deal on (for me at least). I got this funny feeling if I don't switch now, I'll live to regret it. What say you? E.0

There have been a number of people reporting issues with the account transfer to OVO , the closing statement from SSE is highly overestimated even though they have up to date smart meter readings( this happened to me in March with 275kWh closing estimate for 1 month smart meter usage of 80kWh , they had been spot on til then). This causes all sorts of problems down the line.My advice is take photos of your meter readings on transfer day & make sure OVO gets them as an opening figure, i can't say this will lead to a smooth transfer but it will help.My transfer didn't go too well , issues with highly inflated dd demands on highly inflated future usage , these were a chore to solve due to the poor customer service i recieved . i did manage to get it sorted to an ok position but the trust had gone by then & have since moved suppliers, fingers crossed these are better.0

So long as both use the same reading to close/open the accounts and the rates are the same/similar then it doesn't really matter. You only need to worry if you are billed twice for the same units.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

You'd think so wouldn't you, something strange in the world of SSE & OVO , maybe to do with how the buyout was handled when SSE became part of OVO in 2020 .Alnat1 said:So long as both use the same reading to close/open the accounts and the rates are the same/similar then it doesn't really matter. If you don't want a smart meter, fine, but why not just provide them with an accurate reading. Then there would be no need for an estimated one.clanger12345 said:I just got transferred from SSE to OVO and my new bill is way over estimated (I refuse to have a smart meter) but to make it worse I have just logged in to OVO checked my previous billing history and they are showing me as in debt and carrying forward that debt when my SSE was paid in full and I have the paper bills and receipts to prove it.
