An IFA has given me the following costs to set up the above fund for an investment of £150k
Initial assessment
Should I look for another IFA
I have had a different quote from another IFA on same investment sum but using a different fund
Initial assessment
Has anyone any thoughts about these funds
Initial assessment
One of cost of 2.75%
Ongoing
0.5%
Plus funds and platform
The initial fee seems very high

Which funds? Also, you haven't mentioned the cost of the funds and platform. This information is quite important for anyone wishing to comment. The cheaper IFA charges look competitive, especially for ESG, but it would be better to look at the whole picture - for example fund charges of 1.5% and platform charges of 0.5% would make it a very expensive option regardless of adviser fees.DoneWorking said:Has anyone any thoughts about these funds

Quoted from the other thread mentioned by Albermarle: "Aviva offers's a whole of market investment platform and has the same investment options as all the other whole of market platforms."DoneWorking said:masonic said:

So you are going to need to narrow it down a bit.

I did see some described as Aviva Stewardship FundsLike these two, or something else? They look expensive and low quality to me (0.6-0.8% OCF), with a high tracking error (5%) and poor diversification (33% IT vs 11% in the benchmark for the top fund, 45% of the fund is spread between just 10 companies).

I had heard Aviva were a bit pricy but that an IFA could get you a better rate

I'll repeat the quote from the other thread: "Aviva offers's a whole of market investment platform and has the same investment options as all the other whole of market platforms."DoneWorking said:masonic said:DoneWorking said:masonic said:

There are lots of alternative ESG options from various different fund houses. Some are bound to be better than the ones I've found, but your adviser will be picking your funds, so you should find out what his or her choices will be if you want to assess them. Same goes for costs, an adviser may be able to access a discount on the platform fee. Without these critical pieces of information it is all just guesswork.

I have been advised on another post to use Google to try to find one but I must say I'm finding it really difficuilt
This is the reason I asked about Aviva ESG funds now instead of waiting until I find a new IFA
I am of course open to other managed ESG Fund Providers0 -

I am of course open to other managed ESG Fund ProvidersI don't think an IFA exists that will meet your expectations on cost and be able to achieve the returns estimate you desire for the amount of risk you are willing to take on. They need to cover their time costs, and at your level of investment, the cheaper quote looks like good value. The returns you've been estimated by previous IFAs were reasonable. I doubt you'll find a better offer than those you already have in hand. You've been looking now for about 6 months if I recall correctly. You'd probably find it easier to justify the fees at a higher level of risk, but you are where you are and I do wonder if it is worth all of the hassle and costs when opting for low risk.Your other option is to DIY, but the 'Y' of DIY is 'Yourself', and I think it's been established in some of your other threads that you don't have the disposition to take control of your own investments. You were looking into Vanguard ESG funds last week, and those seemed closer to the mark for quality and keeping costs down, but would you be able to pull the trigger on a self-selected investment portfolio, set up and managed yourself? As far as a 'managed' fund is concerned, this by definition means higher costs, so you could perhaps avoid paying an IFA the 0.5% ongoing adviser fee but pay an extra 0.5% in fund management charges. You won't be able to ring up your fund manager for a chat when you are feeling nervous. There's also no reason to think a managed ESG fund will perform any better than an equivalent passively managed fund. There aren't any good options for multi-asset ESG as there are for standard multi-asset. So whatever you or your adviser pick, it's going to involve several building blocks to build a balanced portfolio.I did mention the option of Robo investing in one of your previous threads, this would bring down the costs compared to IFA, and leave you with a simpler decision with respect to risk only: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/stocks-shares-isas/#doitforme2
