BG economy 7 smart meters

does anyone know if British Gas have economy 7 smart meters, ive been trying for 12 months to get a straight answer from them. some advisers say they have none in stock, others say they don’t do them at all, one told me I’m on the waiting list for one, I rent & have storage radiator’s & immersion heater so I really need accurate bill’s especially as I live on a pension. any info regarding economy 7 smart meters worth be appreciated.

For some strange reason BG don't support smart meters on an E7 tariff: if you search the forum you'll see lots of posts about this.

You don't need a smart meter to get accurate bills, just send monthly meter readings.  Note that your direct debit is not the same as your bill, it's merely a top up of a kitty that may or may not be sufficient to pay the bill when it arrives.

You might prefer Variable Monthly Direct Debit which means you pay each month the exact amount you've just used,  The advantage of VMDD is that you don't build up a big credit that may take ages to be refunded in you switch supplier or if they go bust, and you won't get an unexpectedly huge catch-up bill because you weren't paying enough. However, VMDD means small bills in summer but big bills in winter so you'll have to budget and set money aside.

If you really want an E7 smart meter, switch to Octopus on their SVT but you'll have to phone them.
