Uploading the contents of a compressed zip folder 71 KB from my Desktop

I feel so stupid but, despite using multiple Google links, as well as trying to follow the Researcher's instructions, I am still not sure if I actually uploaded and sent the files in the compressed zip folder.
The Folder is on my desktop with the compressed zip folder in it. The Researcher's instructions directed me to their oblong box to upload the document. I tried 'everything' but I seem to be incapable of understanding what I am doing. I tried to copy and paste, cut and paste and, eventually drag the folder into the box. I was looking for an instruction like 'Upload' but it was not there. am waiting to hear from the Researcher (Prolific) but I suspect I may have sent an empty folder.
It was a compressed zip folder 71 KB* and all the documents in it were to be uploaded to the researcher's Server. I found it impossible to individually upload all the files (nine of them) in the folder and, as a last resort, I dragged the whole compressed zipped folder 71 KB to the Researcher's oblong box and, hopefully, sent it. Is this likely to have worked?
To learn (for now and for the future) is there is an easy step by step guide how to upload a file like this* I am anxious to learn. Maybe it is the terminology I don't understand but I feel embarrassed by my lack of ability to understand the seemingly straightforward and simple instructions. Any help is very much appreciated, thank you.

An upload tool/option does not upload a folder. It cannot upload a folder, in a typical browser style upload interface anyway. It will always be a file or multiple files. There are solutions for uploading folders but that's very rarely what you want to do (and it's far more effective to use FTP for that anyway). If your compressed ZIP file was 71k then that means there is something in it. Whether that's what you wanted to send is another matter. A zip file with nothing in it will have a file size... of nothing (or nearly nothing). As to upload a file -click Upload button, find the file you want, , click Next/Forward/some other button and the file goes. That's all there is to it. Most upload forms will only accept certain types of files for processing, and even though you may find them that will take anything you can throw at them, doesn't mean the server can do anything with it.1

Thank you very much for replying, Neil_Jones.The Folder on my Desktop has the compressed ZIP file in it. When I click on this ZIP file I can see the nine 'documents' in it on my Desktop (? the 71k) and it is all nine documents I was to upload.I can open the Folder, see zip file inside, click on it and I can see the nine documents. I can't see or find any upload button at all. I have tried left and right clicking but there is no upload button. This is why I tried to drag the File with the nine documents in it to the Researcher's oblong box provided - ? his Server'If I could find the Upload button to click on I.m sure I could' 'as you describe' 'click Next/Forward/some other button and get the the file to upload/go.I'm sure you will see how stupid I feel because I really cannot find a way to locate the upload button. Thank you very much for any help.I have that awful: "I hate technology feeling" because I still just don't (even with average intelligence) seem to get my head round the most basic stuff. Thanks to help on this forum I'm better than I used to be but there's always another problem, sorry!Crimson

The upload button will usually be on the website of this "research computer", not your computerSometimes depending on the technology you can just drag it in.1

Thanks very much. I couldn't see any option to click to upload on the website box provided by the Researcher but I really did drag the folder into it. I have not heard from the Researcher yet but I'll post back when I hear. What I dragged to the box provided by the Researcher was the whole ZIP folder (with the nine documents in it) so it would be great if it's worked.Whatever the outcome I'll post back and thank you again for helping.Crimson0

Why not use We Transfer - Free and you can send files upto 2GB - Use it on a regular basis when sending large files.Problem sending files attached to emails have limitations so it is possible it has not gone or got lost due to sixe.1

Thanks Grey_Critic. I was trying to follow the instructions given by the Researcher to upload the files. I'm hopelessly out of my depth but I'm grateful for the help and replies here. I am waiting to hear from the Researcher if the folder with the ZIP files (nine of them in the folder) which I dragged into the box provided on his website (Prolific) has arrived. If it did arrive, and the files are still Zipped I hope the Researcher can unzip them - or maybe I'll be given the option to resend them. I'll post back when I hear from the Researcher. Thanks Neil_Jones and Grey_Critic - glad to have your help.Crimson0

Well if the researcher doesn't already know how to do it I'm sure he can research it himself

Thanks Neil_Jones. Provided the Zipped Folder with the files in arrives it would be good if the Researcher could unzip them. I need to learn though and I appreciate the help.

The Researcher (on Prolific) approved my submission but did not say if the File had uploaded successfully. I am pleased and still, slowly, increasing my technical knowledge - I always appreciate the good help on MSE Forums, thank you.
