Auto Aid

I see mse are recommending Auto Aid as a recovery service, and they are certainly a lot cheaper than the other better known names. But there are some appalling reviews out there, and not just one or two outlyers, but bad reviews comprising about as many as the good ones, it is about 50/50 on trip advisor. Does anyone use them and has had to call them out? It is clearly not worth saving money if they are no good and cannot be relied upon?

I came on here to see if there was any info on what’s happening with Autoaid.

We have used them for years and never had a problem this year. They took 2 payments from my credit card (Barclays marked it as fraud and refunded the money). It was not marked as Autoaid.

Turns out they are now owned by Right Choice Insurance Broker.

We were not informed about issues from Autoaid and they are now (after 2 months of no contact) asking me to make a bank transfer. Barclays won’t deal with them.

I’m not sure what to do but this does seem really dodgy.

Left them this year due to uncertainty of cover with older cars. Have called them out 3 times over previous years (most recently in 2021), no complaints apart from the tedious call centre questions but I doubt this differs much from rivals. The roadside experience depends on the local garage holding the subcontract so introduces a potential lottery.

I've been with them for years, never had any problems.  Their price has gone up in recent years, but it's still a heck of a lot cheaper than the AA/RAC/whatever.

They phoned me because my card had expired. I asked about age restrictions and they said there is a higher price for cars over 15 years, £73 I think rather than £50 odd.

i can tell the detailed story of our experience last september , if you'd like , but bottom line was ,

,my partners tvr broke down on the way to old radnor , from standlake . they looked for the car in the wrong place , finally took it to birmingham m42 services ,left it there with partner ,saying back to take you onto the next leg in 10 mins.  she finally turned up at old radnor in a taxi at 1.30 am the next day .

car was delivered at 9am 3 days later .

she was left in the m42 lorry park ,stuck in car,  from 6 to 12 am..with no idea if what was happening. many calls to auto aid by me , resulted in the auto aid girls and boys trying to blame me for this . in one way or another ... it was totally surreal.

i sent an account to the complaints dept , no response .

We’ve called them out 3 times over the years.

only had one issue where they couldn’t find my MOT and demanded a picture before they would recover. Luckily my partner was home and found the documentation.

Other than than we’ve had good service in a multi vehicle household.
Mine is regardless of age of vechicles for.

My friend used them for 3 years, called then out once.
Was at a friends house and took 4 hours to come out. Not an issue as was in a nice warm home.

Like me he now has a family AA membership.
4 people, Home, Relay, National and onward travel. £174 - £88 cashback.
£21 a head or £43 if cashback does not pay.
