Russian Banks and a cancelled flight
Flure
Several of us booked a flight with Moldovan-based airline, Fly One from Lyons to Yerevan.
We received an email telling us they had moved the flight from the scheduled Monday morning to the following Friday.
Since we are attending an event on the Tuesday this was no use to us.
The gave three options:
1. Take the new flight
2. Take 110% Credit into our Fly One account
3. Full refund
We have all chosen Option 3.
Several days later and we're getting emails from Fly One claiming that because of the freeze on Russian banks it is impossible for them to refund out money.
I have passed this on to my Credit Card issuer as a "Non-provision of Product or Services" situation and supplied them with copies of all the emails.
What are people's opinions?
Will the Credit Card issuer refund the money then seek compensation from Fly One when it can be done? Or will they simply shrug and say "We can do nothing"?
What's my legal position?

They'll either do a chargeback or s75 if for some reason the chargeback wasn't possible, but it should be fine.1

S75 likely will be the best option here as it gives you another option to claim.
I am aware that another airline is having issues moving funds from Armenia to their home country due to Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine, so if one of your flights is operated by FlyOne Armenia (I'm not sure which entity operates the KIV-EVN sectors) this is very likely to be true.
Wizz have some very cheap tickets to Yerevan at the moment ex-Vilnius (I need to go later this year so am keeping an eye on prices closely) if you haven't sorted it out yet. Ryanair and Wizz both have a base at Vilnius for travel to/from the UK.💙💛 💔1 -
When is any invasion not illegal? People argue that when Blair invaded Iraq it was illegal, as many of the Empires invasions over the years

Obviously, it was controversial and opened the door for people like Putin to claim their invasions are legal because they are defending people from nationalists.0 -

I'm sure if you tell that to the 7.5 million people who have been forced to leave the country and also to the further 8 million who are internally displaced (which is a number very close to the population of the Netherlands) they'll be very glad to hear that. (As I know sarcasm doesn't translate too well over text, please note that it is sarcasm).
Rant over, please keep the thread on topic as stated in the forum rules.💙💛 💔0
