Address details for viewings in ebay

I know you're not supposed to put contact details in messages in Ebay when selling an item but how are you supposed to send an address to a prospective buyer who simply wants to view an item before bidding or is this against the rules?

It’s sort of against the rules as it means an unscrupulous seller could do an off eBay sale. Buyer is supposed to buy and then decide if they want it after viewing , once you have a sale you can exchange addresses.shiraz99 said:I know you're not supposed to put contact details in messages in Ebay when selling an item but how are you supposed to send an address to a prospective buyer who simply wants to view an item before bidding or is this against the rules?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. And I guess they have the policy as a safeguard for all eBay users.
If anything does go wrong and you want to appeal to eBay you won't be able to if you haven't adhered to the policy. And they will know that you haven't. If you can afford to lose the cost of the item then that's up to you. If not, you should stick to eBay's guidelines.
If a buyer is exceptionally keen they would have to buy the item, come to see it and then if they don't want it, they can ask for a refund. But they could easily be time-wasters.Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
