I’ve gone back to using a stove top kettle on a gas hob.  It’s got a very wide base so just filling it with the amount of water I actually need means it boils very quickly.  I did the sums and it is cheaper than an electric kettle.

I also soak whites overnight with washing soda and a bit of oxygen based bleach then wash on a low temperature.  I used to think they needed a hot wash for hygiene but the oxygen bleach sanitises them and the UV light from hanging outside to dry also sanitises.  I also iron tea towels which makes them totally sanitary but mainly so that they lie flat enough to fit in the drawer
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I must be doing something right as got my water bill this morning and we're only using about half the average of a 2 person home and the bill has gone down by £2 a month.

I used to have an electric can opener and an electric carving knife.  I think I will manage to do without them.  I also manage to do without a dishwasher, but that is not by choice.
